History
Pa’lante Green Cleaning was launched in 2014 in Jackson Heights, Queens with the support of Make the Road New York, a community-based non-profit in New York City. We are comprised of 16 members, both men and women, that came together in the hopes to create sustainable jobs with a living wage in the cleaning industry. Our cooperative embodies the principles of equality, workplace democracy and ongoing professional training, principles often absent in the traditional cleaning companies we have worked for in the past.
Our name, Pa’lante, is a Spanish word which roughly translates as Forward. In choosing this name, we thought about our personal stories as immigrants, the mission of our cooperative, as well as our services to our clients. We hope we can move forward together.
In the Press
In 2014, we were excited to receive the 2014 Small Business Achievement Award from the Queens Tribune. Pa’lante also received certificates of achievement from NY State Comptroller Napoli and NYC Comptroller Stringer.
Our unique worker-owner business model has been recognized for its success in offering living wage jobs for its members and quality services.
